Floor Coatings

Why Floor Coatings

In any fast paced work environment – whether it be a factory, warehouse, or restaurant – the floor will inevitably suffer wear and tear after many years of sustained use and abuse. In order to not only preserve the integrity of your concrete flooring but to make your work environment safer and more effective, it is important to consider what kind of floor coating is right for your business.

In order to not only preserve the integrity of your concrete flooring, but to make your work environment safer and more effective, it is important to consider what kind of floor coating is right for your business.

In order to preserve your concrete floor, there are a variety of options available, each suited to a particular need: epoxy and polyaspartic floor coatings, MMA flooring, and polyurethane coatings. However, two of the most effective and popular floor coating options for industrial and commercial businesses are epoxy floor coatings and polyaspartic floor coatings. While both epoxy and polyaspartic coatings share many similarities and serve the same basic function, there are key differences between the two, and the use of one over the other will largely depend on the needs of your business.

Epoxy Floor Coatings

Epoxy floor coatings are a long-lasting, durable, and cost-effective solution to providing a safe and aesthetically pleasing flooring option for your industrial or commercial needs. Epoxy floor coatings are composed of a two-part chemical system that, when bonded, creates an extremely durable floor surface that becomes bonded to the concrete underneath. The epoxy floor system can be tinted or colored, and there is the option of incorporating a vinyl flake system to further improve both traction and aesthetics.

In addition to preserving the concrete floor underneath, epoxy floor coatings are also:

Polyaspartic Floor Coatings

Like an epoxy floor system, polyaspartic flooring is a highly durable and practical option for industrial and commercial settings in particular. Given that this type of flooring is extremely resilient and more flexible than an epoxy system, this makes it ideal for areas with heavy traffic, chemical spills, biological elements, and intense heat or cold. The benefit of being thermal shock resistant (able to adjust to extreme hot or cold) and the resilience against chemicals and biological contaminants, make the polyaspartic flooring system a very practical option for an industrial or commercial setting. A properly installed polyaspartic floor system is expected to last up to 3 times as long as an epoxy floor system in the same area.

In addition to preserving the concrete floor underneath, polyaspartic flooring systems are also:

MMA and Polyurethane Floor Coatings

With respect to polyurethane and MMA coatings, these types of products are highly effective for settings that will experience a large degree of traffic and use. An added benefit of polyurethane and MMA coatings is that they are designed for high-turn around time, ensuring that the floor will work just as fast and hard as you do!

Why Floor Coatings?

Epoxy floor coatings are a long-lasting, durable, and cost-effective solution to providing a safe and aesthetically pleasing flooring option for your industrial or commercial needs. Before applying an epoxy floor coating, the concrete will have to be properly ground so as to remove any previous coatings, paint, or residue, then repaired of any cracks or pitting, and thoroughly vacuumed. Epoxy floor coatings are composed of a two-part chemical system that, when bonded, creates an extremely durable floor surface that becomes bonded to the concrete underneath. In addition to preserving the concrete floor underneath, epoxy floor coatings are also UV resistant, waterproof, non-slippery, highly durable, food-safe, easy to maintain, conductivity and static controlled, and able to be colored and tinted in a variety of styles. The epoxy floor system can be tinted or colored, and there is the option of incorporating a vinyl flake system as well to further improve both traction and aesthetics.

Adding this product to your floor increases not only the strength of the coating but also the longeviety of the products and concrete underneath.

All of our basement epoxy floor systems require state of the art equipment and know how. We first diamond grind the concrete surface to maintain a mechanical bond as well as removing any foreign debris or sealers. Then we’ll continue to repair the concrete of all cracks, pits, shelling and damage that has accumulated over the years. We’ll then apply our epoxy system with the colour and styled of your choice and finish with a final coat of epoxy coating to ensure complete adhesion to the concrete. Creating a waterproof floor.
